Can I do a food drive to help?

We have had an overwhelming response, and we are tremendously grateful. We would like to encourage monetary donations at this time. Things are changing so quickly, and direct funding allows us to be responsive and flexible in meeting immediate needs.

What food items do you need?

Needs are changing quickly. We will update our website frequently as we learn about the immediate needs from our partners and community.

Can you pick up food?

Our warehouse is at capacity with the significant amount of food coming, and our drivers are on the road delivering. If you have a small amount of food please drop off at one of our drop off locations.

Where can I drop off food?

Maui Food Bank at 760 Kolu Street in Kahului accepts donations Monday- Friday, 7am – 3pm.

Are you taking non-food items?

Right now we are accepting priority items of diapers (baby and adult) and personal hygiene items like toothbrushes, toothpaste, deodorant, shampoo and conditioner, etc. Please do not send clothing and bedding, our island has enough of those items right now. Hawaii state VOAD is coordinating offers for generators.

Can I volunteer?

Interested volunteers can fill out this form. Right now all our volunteer spots are filled, but this form will add you to our list. We expect many opportunities to volunteer in the months to come. If you are interested, Hands and Hearts is also accepting volunteer requests.

Will this money go directly to the victims of the fire?

Maui Food Bank serves the three islands of Maui County, and we are already seeing the funding we have been receiving has helped us.

What is Maui Food Bank doing right now?

In the first eight days of response, we sent out food for 146,000 pounds of food. Our longtime agency partners are distributing food on the west side and for displaced families. We are also sending produce to partners like Chef Hui and Mercy Chefs who are preparing thousands of meals daily.

Disaster Response Update

Maui Food Bank is Maui County’s primary safety net for hunger relief, providing safe and nutritious food to anyone in Maui County who is at risk of going hungry.

Following the fires, Maui Food Bank sprang into immediate action. Between August 9 and August 31, we distributed 548,367 pounds of food and remain committed to providing ongoing food assistance to those in need.

The Food Bank works with partner organizations throughout Maui County, including food pantries, churches, non-profits, soup kitchens, and various community-based groups. This cooperative network strategy enables the Food Bank to effectively run comprehensive and efficient food distribution programs that serve the entire community.

The vast majority of our partner agencies are fully operational, with many of them extending their distribution hours to accommodate the growing demand across Maui. The map displays the existing food distribution sites, and we are actively engaged in expanding our distribution locations, including those on the west side.

Maui Food Bank has joined forces with Hawai‘i Foodbank on O‘ahu and Feeding America to deliver essential food supplies to Maui. Our island community is on a challenging journey towards recovery, and we want to express our sincere gratitude to the countless generous contributors who are making it possible for us to continue this vital mission, both now and in the days to come.
